WALKING IN ARGASSI
Walk to Mt Skopos – Distance approx.11km (7miles)
Starting in Argassi head south past the Green frog, round the bends in the road and up the hill.
After a very sharp left hand bend in the road there is a turn on the right towards the mountain. The path then forks – take the RIGHT fork and follow the path to the radio mast. |
To get to the old monastery take a left turn towards the radio mast, go through the gates and the monastery and the white church of the Virgin Mary is round the back of the steep rocky outcrop.
If you go through the Monastery grounds there is a beautiful viewing area to the East overlooking Zakynthos Town and ideal for taking photographs.
Crossing the field to the west (the right) of the Monastery you can also see magnificent views of Kalamaki and the airport.
The path that descends from here is very overgrown with brambles so it is best to go back the way you came. |

take plenty of water, sun hat, glasses and mobile just in case. |
